So I didn't quite make my goal of 1 craft a week for the entire year of 2010, I was soooo close. We traveled to WA for Christmas and while there we had a girls craft day, where I also made another advent calender, a watch band, and a wood craft so I was really even closer to my goal. I don't have pics because we flew home and I couldn't fit all of my creations in my suitcase so they're being stored at my parents house until we drive home for our next visit!!! This year for 2011, I haven't been as crafty as I would like but I have been working on my embroidery and some cards, here are a few pics of what I've made!!

Embroidering the gift towels really got me motivated to utilize my awesome embroidery machine that my Mom gave me as a graduation gift. I always thought of embroidery as an "old lady" thing, and that I really couldn't do a lot with it but then my eyes were opened really wide, when i went searching for ideas. Now I'm sooooooooooo excited to use it for home decor, gifts, cute kids clothes, holiday decoration, etc., etc. etc!!!

Each Christmas my hubby likes to give his office gifts, this year we gave each person a hot pad and a towel with a monogram on it and a tag that said, "Warm wishes this Christmas Season!" I like it because it's not something they have to keep out all year long, it can be an "at Christmas-time only" decoration and they are useful as well as decorative!

We also decorate for Christmas while my Mother-in-Law is here and I have so much putting things together, this year I was excited to use my silver reindeer I bought at the after Xmas sale last year!! I had a vision in my head of making a winter wonderland, at first it wasn't working but then my hubby stepped in, for some reason I always forget what a creative and talented guy he is!!! It turned out just like I pictured in my head, I loved it and would just sit in the dark staring at it!!! I can't wait to put it up again next year!!

For Halloween I had to come up with something for dinner and didn't buy anything specifically for it so I came up with breakfast burritos!! We cut our tortillas into the shape of pumpkins, then "painted" them with orange food coloring and added faces w/olives and cheese then put the "brains" (scrambled eggs) inside. We also had slugs with it (peach slices!!)

When my Mom came to help with the new baby it was at the end of Sept/beg of Oct so of course Halloween was everywhere and both my Mom and I are C-R-A-Z-Y for Halloween!! Whenever we went out we came back with something Halloween!! We were also blog-hopping to find fun ideas and over at eighteen25 they were having a different guest each day do something for Halloween. We found this really fun idea from one of the contributors and just ran with it!!

We got together with a few different friends to celebrate our favorite holiday with fireworks, a BBQ, Glenn Beck, more fireworks, games, food etc. I was going through a chocolate fetish I guess cause I made choc covered cinnamon bears, star-shaped brownies, and our friends gave us some of those awesome HUGE marshmallows so I dipped those in choc too!!!

I don't have a ton of decorations for the 4th of July, I really wanted to just go to Real Deals and buy some but that costs $$$$$! I got some great ideas online to make my own w/stuff I already had around the house and for this button & wood flag, Jocey was the one who actually gave me the idea. I had all the buttons out to decorate with and she asked if I was going to make a flag out of them, so I did!! Never mind that the stripes are off and it's a square instead of a rectangle!! I really like how it turned out and it added a lot to the shelf over my stairs!!

For Father's Day I made J and the Grampa's-toilet paper roll mini albums!!! I got the idea from a really awesome blog and had a lot of fun making them. You just fold the roll in half and cover it with paper and then you have a perfect pocket! I interviewed each of the kids w/questions about their Dad and Grampa's and then put their answers on a tag that slips right into one of the tubes w/their pics on it!!!

A few weeks back was National Scrapbooking Day!! Of course I had to celebrate somehow. I went to our local craft store and found a few good deals on clearance items and then I came home to watch a movie with J! Around 9:30pm I thought that probably wasn't good enough and that I should probably actually scrapbook something on National Scrapbook Day so this is what I came up with. I am usually so busy scrapbooking the kids I don't do a lot of J and I so it was fun to put something together of the two of us!

I totally found this idea off the internet. I was looking for good teacher/bus driver gifts for the end of the year and I heard from some friends that used to be teachers that the best thing to do is try to find something consumable so that they don't get 25 pictures from each student every year that they have to find a place to hang. This idea was really easy and cheap! We got each teacher, teacher's aid, and bus driver a 2 liter of A&W rootbeer with a tag that says, "My teacher is AWesome!" and tied to that was a bag of swedish fish with a tag that says, "You are o'fish'ally the best teacher ever!" The kids made a thank you note out of the tags and that was it!!! Hopefully they like them!

For Mother's Day we weren't sure what to get and then we figured: every Gramma likes pics of the grandkids and chocolates, so we combined the two!! We bought Florences exquisite candies and made a picture card that says, "Exquisite candies..." and then on the inside there's a pic of each child holding a note that pieces together to say, "...for our exquisite Gramma, Nana, Abuelita, Grammie" all the different names we call our Grammas!!

Again with the gray! Here's a few B-Day cards I made up with a new number stamp I really wanted to use. One's for my nephew (Haley if you look at these don't show Kaleb since I'm still late and haven't sent it off!!!) and the other I made cause I wanted to use pink and gray and I had half of my gray card stock left!!! I painted the chipboard pieces white and then stamped on them but it's hard to tell with the horrible flash work I did!

I literally made this card in less than 10 min. One of the girls that I visit teach and her husband were just sealed in the temple so I made them some yummy cookies (see previous post) and a congratulations card. But I was running out of time before I had to go so I had to end up throwing this together, I would have like to take a little more time but this is what we got. I'm really loving using the color gray lately, I want to get a gray ink pad. It's hard to tell because of the lighting but the stamp at the very bottom says, "A lifetime of love"

Here is one of the platters J took to work, it took two big platters and two plates just to transfer 16 rolls.
These are dinner plate sized paper plates, some of them turned out THAT BIG!!! In the next pic I put one next to my rolling pin to try and give you an idea of just how dang big they were!!

I am definitely considering these bad boys a work of art!! I found this recipe through my friend Ashley's blog (I would do a hyperlink but I'm not that smart). They sounded so delicious and J said he would love to take them to work for his office so I decided to tackle them. They're cinnamon rolls, the frosting is made with cream cheese and the dough itself is made with vanilla pudding so they are very soft and YUMMY. I'm actually not a huge cinnamon roll fan but these are definitely my favorite. I had one (one of the "smaller"ones) for a late night snack last night when they were finally done (I started making them at 4pm and it was almost 9pm when they were out of the oven and frosted-but they were worth it!!!) And then the kids and I tackled one and a half for breakfast this morning!! Bet ya can't guess what I'll be eating for lunch today!!!!

This shows me all the different ink pad colors I have and what they look like when they're stamped. I will also use all of my markers on this page and do a little patch w/the embossing powders I own.

Then, the thing that took the longest was stamping each and every stamp I own. I broke it into categories like: holidays, greetings, growing up, nature, etc and stamped them each a different color. So now when I am wondering, "what stamps do I have to use on this baby shower card?" I can go to the baby page and start from there. Or last Christmas I was hired to make Christmas cards for a few people, now I can go straight to the Christmas page and ask if there is a certain stamp or sentiment they would like to work with and then make some idea cards using those images.

I got the idea to make an inventory book from a book I checked out from the library a long time ago. I made one and found it to be really helpful but it was years ago and so outdated so I finally decided to tackle an updated one. I started while Amie was here for her help and support but luckily I kept motivation after she left and am now almost finished!! I had to add it as a craft even though technically it's not a craft, but it's for my craft room and it took me a long time! This way

We found these little CD tins at ArtCo for only 25 cents a piece. Amie and I bought a few and took them home to make into mini albums. I made one for a baby boy and she made a beautiful baby girl one for her cousins baby shower. We covered the front and then made little mini pages to fit where the CD would go. Fast, cheap, and easy, my favorite things!!

Amie is here visiting and our goal is to do as many crafts as we can. The last time she visited we didn't even finish one!! So far both she and I have made a few cards and then I challenged us to use some of these purple flowers I bought over 3 years ago and haven't used. Both she and I worked on the project although she did WAY more than I did. She finished 3 cards and the card holder, isn't it adorable!! I finished two cards. We put it all together and it is a really cute gift set she can give away or use herself (of course she gets to keep it since she did the majority of the work!!) I'm so happy to have her here and have someone to craft with, we have tons of fun together!! We're going to work some more tonight so hopefully I'll get ahead on my weekly crafts instead of always being behind!!!

This one was hard, I loved the colors but even though there is so much going on, for some reason it just still felt empty or incomplete. I started this project a LONG time ago and just recently finished it. I found little tins w/necklaces or bracelets on sale for only $1. So my daughter got the jewelry and I had tins to play with!! It's just a set of cards to fit in the tin that match what I did with the top of the tin. It was pretty easy (once I finally got focused) since the cards are small!!

I loved getting Valentine's from my parents when I was young, they would always put them in the top drawer of our dresser and we would know right where to go to find them. We haven't really been into giving Valentine's to our kids so this year I wanted to start. I went to the dollar store on Sat to see what I could come up with for $3. I think I did pretty good: They each got their own mini notebook and Camp Rock pencil (they love to write and draw), and with that they got a heart-shaped container with pink, white, and red bubble gum balls and a tag that said, "We "chews" you to be our Valentine!" and lastly; their favorite gift was a little coupon book for each of them, with things like, "A five minute snuggle in Mommy & Daddy's bed at bed-time," or "We'll play a game together," "Read a story together," etc. They are normal things we usually do but the kids love the idea of turning in a coupon for it!! It turned out great, they loved it!

I only had 2 pics of JD so I only did a one page LO. I tried to use something I've never used before so I tried the acrylic arrows and painted the edges white to help them stand out. Out of all 3 kids I love making pages for JD the best, he LOVES to see his pictures and gets so excited about the story going on in the LO and always tells me what a good job I did, I think I'll keep him around!!!

My new, New Year's Resolution is to just do ONE craft thing a week, whether it's scrapbooking, cards, making a shelf, etc. anything crafty. It will probably be mostly scrapbooking but that's good since I'm so far behind!!! Last summer I took pics of the kids with their favorite snuggle-bunny. I put together Sis' page last year so this year I started off w/JJ's and JD's. Here's JJ's he loves his "Build-a-Bear" monkey. This is the wall above our stairs, it's big and it's empty. I've been wanting to do something with it ever since we moved in but haven't had the drive, motivation, funds, or ideas. As the new year was approaching I decided to make that my first goal: to do something with that wall. I wanted pics and a shelf that I could change out for the different holidays and seasons. I explained to J what I wanted and he borrowed some of our neighbors tools. When I came home from running errands J said, "I'll buy you a shelf when we save money for it." He and the router were not friends. Our wonderful neighbors were working on their own project and so he told me to bring over the boards and he routered the edges for me. I then painted them all and J assembled the shelf and lastly we hung it on the wall and this is how it all turned out......................

I really like it and have had a ton of fun putting winter decorations and now Valentine's decorations on it!!

I had an idea to do photo blocks and then display them on pretty candlesticks in my living room. J didn't think I would finish the project so he told me I could by the candlesticks when I was done with the blocks and I actually finished so I got to get the whole thing!! The pic isn't a great one but I really like the way it turned out. I have pics on 3 diff sides of the blocks so I can change them around and a "J" on another side and patterned paper on the rest of the sides.

We've been working on my craft room for a while now and it's finally finished!!!!!! Jerrod sent me on a girls weekend/30th birthday trip to Boise (a little bit early) with my BFF Amie and while I was gone, he got to work. I came home to all the shelves and drawers primed and painted and new toys!! With the help of our wonderful parents, thank you very, very much, I now have my own laptop, a new printer-copier-scanner, lamps, and an i-pod!!! I'm thinking he never wants me to come out of this room again!!! I've moved things around a lot and think I finally have it how I want it and how it's most user-friendly!! I love it, love it, love it!!!!

I think it's my turn to pick a theme so I'm going to go with a product theme not a page theme. The rule for this one is; you have to use something you bought but have never used before, either something you thought was so cute and it's been too cute to use, or something you thought was an awesome deal cause it was on clearance and haven't felt the need to actually use it because it was so cheap, or just something you haven't gotten around to using yet, I know you have stuff like that, so do I!!! We picked up these heavy-duty bags at Artco for only $.50 cents each!! We got them like a year ago with the intent to embroider the kids' names on them so they had their own bags to take to the library. While Mom was here she brought me some new hoops for my embroidery machine and what better way to try them out!! So I finally got Sissy's and JD's done I still need to do JJ's, but he's not as concerned about a bag at the library as he is running around going crazy!!

While Mom was here she was my muse!! I got a couple of projects done that I've been wanting to do, thanks to her help!! Here is one of them: Our fridge is bombarded with papers from church and preschool so we got a magnet board to keep downstairs by the kids' art table. I painted it, added some letters, ribbon, and stamps to it and it turned out as our creation board!! The kids like to be able to have their own space for their creations and I get a clean fridge!! (Sorry the pics aren't the greatest, I had to use the flash because of the poor lighting)

So, my craft room isn't done yet but it's close enough that I can be working in it!! I'm trying to get caught up on the weekly challenges that I've missed, I started where I left off so here's my LO for 1st Haircut!! I'm really loving hidden journaling and on this LO I had before and after pics of the haircut and also a during pic that I couldn't figure out a good spot for so I hid it also!! The journaling is on the back of that hidden pic!! Any ideas of what I can do with that yellow border strip with "before" it looks so plain to me??? Hopefully I can get caught up with the lofty goal of doing 2 LO's per week!!

So we finally taped, primed, and painted the desk and what shelves are done!! I'm too anal to paint so I helped with all the priming and taping and then left J to do the painting, he did a great job and it looks awesome!! I've already started to move stuff onto the shelves that are done and the desk is full of stuff that needs a home!! We're just waiting for shelves on the other wall, in the corner, and drawers!!! i'm so excited, I'm really loving it!!

My craft room is becoming OUR room!! J hasn't had his own space in our new house since we moved in (unless you count the bathroom!!) So we're having my craft room remodeled to make it more user-friendly and add space for my hubby!! I love him and I'm so excited we can have our own room to work in together! We took my desk and moved it to another wall and it's now J's desk while mine is in the process of being built!! I'm so excited and I can't wait to show you the finished project!

My scraproom is undergoing a makeover, I'm so excited!!! So while it's unavailable here's some pics of a little kit I bought at Thanksgiving time for a blessings book! It was fast, cheap, easy, and cute, who can beat that!! I can't wait for my room to be done, I'll post before and after pics and then be able to get caught up on our last challenges!!

Why I love my Husband LO

I chose this theme because tomorrow is J and mine 7th wedding anniversary!! I love my husband for a million different reasons but I only put 10+ on this LO. Sorry about the flash and it's probably hard to read but that's ok cause it's mostly for him anyway!! It was extra simple- love Becky Higgins' LO's!! I used pop-dots for some of the hearts so it's a little 3-D but simple at the same time!! Can't wait for next weeks theme, can't believe I'm so ahead of the game this week, and can't wait to see what you girls come up with!!

Sis, I'm sorry this is so late. It's been giving me lots of trouble!! I tried to follow that LO that you used last time but I changed it and I couldn't get it right so I just kept getting frustrated!! I finally finished it, mostly because I knew you were probably getting more and more irritated each time you logged on and it's not there!!! I like the finished product even though it's a bit random with the half circle thing and the frame in the corner!! I used a lot of hand stitching w/embroidery thread which I've never really done before, I want to play with that technique some more so it may be showing up on future LO's!! The theme again for this week is, "why I love my husband" I'm almost done with it so I promise to turn it in on time if not early!!

Hopefully I used enough flowers for the "flower challenge!!" Of course, flower, pink, and ballet go together. The big pics Sis' teacher took, she graduated in photography (I think). The big pic is my favorite, I really wanted to do it justice, after I had it all done I was thinking I should have just centered in on the pg and framed the whole thing in flowers!! Oh well! I love the new brads from SU! These silver ones, I used three of them on this LO with gem brads, they're from the filligree set! Can't wait to see what you girls come up with!! Puyallup Fair

So-we're a few days late, but it's better than a week late (ahem, Amie!!) This weeks theme was The Puyallup Fair!! I had my LO picked out right away but it took me a LONG time to figure out my color scheme, I like it, after all that work. The fair brings such wonderful memories for me when I was young and now I can take my kids there with all our family, I love it!!

Ok, here it is, again I'm posting late Fri night. I really need to do this earlier in the week because I'm tired and cranky, I don't love my LO, and the photos are horrible but I don't want to redo anything. So you get it how it is!! I love the 4th of July, it's my favorite holiday and I'm glad that was the challenge cause I think it's the first 4th of July LO I've ever done, it can only go up from here right!!! Next weeks theme is The Puyallup Fair, we thought it would be a good idea to pick a couple of themes we've been wanting to scrapbook and make a list so we know what's coming up and if we want to get a jump start, some of us who get their LO's done and posted mid-week, can work ahead if we're in the mood!!! So pick 2-3 things you want to do and we'll put them in our rotation and post the list so we know!! Love you girls, you're doing an awesome job and you're very inspiring!!

Halloween Challenge

Wheww, I'm finally done, I'm cutting it close tonight. I had a busy week last week so I haven't had a chance to work on my LO a lot. I had a really hard time with the 2nd pg. I'm still not sold on the ghost (which is cut out from my new Paper Dolls cartridge, thank you Amie!!) I haven't glued it down yet, I put it in 2 different spots in the diff pics, what one do you like better? He was J's idea, I'm thankful I have a husband who supports my habit so much!! Sorry about the pics being crooked and blurry, we've had a rough night with this project!! Hopefully things go more smoothly with the 4th of July theme!!

Home board

Our neighbors are so kind, and crafty!! They gave us this beautiful board for Christmas. They painted bead board, framed it and added hooks and a beautiful iron hanger!! The black and cream match our decor perfectly, thanks guys, you did a wonderful job, we love it!! I cut out the vinyl using my cricut and some leftover black vinyl. I was trying to figure out what saying to put on it and decided on this after singing time in primary!! Right now for winter we have snowflake ornaments w/pics of us in the snow but for the rest of the year I want to find cute little frames to put pics in and hang from the hooks with ribbon!!

Resolution for 2009!!

Amie, Haley, and I have decided on a New Years resolution for 2009, every Friday one of us picks a theme and we all do a double page layout on that theme and post it by the following Friday. This way we have a deadline but we have a week to get it done and we have each other for support and help. Each Friday we get to see what the others came up with on that topic!! I'm way excited about it and already with this layout I think I have more done than I did in all of 2008!!! Anyone is welcome to join in on the fun and get some scrapbooking accomplished!! Just look here for the new theme every Friday and post a comment to let us know to come to your blog and look at the finished product!!! Last weeks theme was our 10-year reunion, I did a then and now theme to see how much has changed in 10 years, it was fun to reminisce a little bit!! I bought some Chargers a few years ago and haven't used them so I decided to but out the vinyl and make some gifts. Jerrod doesn't think anyone wants a "plate" to decorate but I think they turned out pretty well. Here's a couple shots the final product was some with hearts and some with stars and ribbon around all of them!

This was one of my favorite holiday decorations this year. I saw this idea w/ paper for the "j" and "y" and a wreath for the "o." But thought it could be a little classier so I found these beautiful black wood letters with a wreath the same size and thought it was so pretty! The pic doesn't do it justice at all the colors are so dark and rich and I loved looking at it all Christmas long!!

Another thing I love to do, Read!! I go to a book club once a month and a girl there says she writes down every book she reads and when she reads it so I thought I would try that too- a reading journal!! Of course I couldn't just use a normal ol' notebook so I got out my scrapbookin' stuff and here's what I came up with!! The pages inside are A-Z, sorted by title and because it uses the rings I can always add more pages!!

Halloween Decor

I wanted to make something for Halloween this year so I bought some of the unfinished letters at Wally world, painted them, added some dots and some ribbon, I still think they look a little plain so if you have any suggestions on how I can spice them up, let me know!! All in all after adding up the costs for the letters, the ribbon, and the paint, I probably could have just bought a cute pre-made decoration at Real Deals!! Oh well, gotta love the home-made feel!!

Gotta love rub-ons!

This is a frame I keep on the windowsill above the kitchen sink so I can always see my beautiful babies!! It was cute when it was plain but the rub-ons add my feelings about my children!!
Our guest bedroom is slowly taking on an americana theme I had this empty frame, a flag, and ru-ons and this is what I came up with! Imagine the american dream!!

Rub-ons make it so easy to take something normal and give it a little pizazz!!

Stampin' Up! party

On Sat I had my neighbor Annette, who has been a SU! demonstrator for 10 years come do a party at my house, it was lots of fun and she showed us some cute ideas. First she did these cute pumpkin decorations and gave me the plate w/pumpkins and candy on it (which is already gone of course!!) Then she made this adorable card w/the new scallop edge punch and lastly we all got to make these cute witches broom goodie bags filled w/popcorn, candy corn, and M&Ms!! Thanks so much to Annette for all of her hard work and for all the girls that came and had a fun time!!

Here's what I did with that clearance rod from Joann's

This is a bulletin board I bought from the D.I. then glued batting, and fabric to it, I put ribbon holders in the corner, embroidered "Inspire & Create" in the corners then embellished with flowers, jewels, brads, and pins. That way I can hang up pics & embellishments I can't wait to use, pics of layouts I want to try, inspiring quotes, etc.!!

Here is my most recent layout with hidden journaling, you might not be able to tell but I clear embossed the word "baby"and then cut it out so it pops off the page!!

I have some time now that the older kids are in school for 2 1/2 hrs MWF and it's right when JJ takes a nap so I've gotten a few things done!!

Puzzles

I got this pack of make-your-own puzzles from a scrapbook swap, i thought it was a cool idea but wasn't sure what to do with them until it hit me!! My kids love to do puzzles and they don't like to sit still for sacrament meeting-a match made in heaven!! So I printed off some pictures of Christ and decoupaged them to the puzzles. The hardest thing has been cutting them out, that's why I only have one puzzle completed and the other 2 are in this stage!! They love the one that's done and take turns doing it about 10 times each during sacrament meeting!!

I'm glad I'm a scrapbooker, my kids LOVE to look at pictures of themselves and remember fun times. For Jd's birthday I made him a mini scrapbook of just him. He loves it!! I got this kit from Robert's (my other love, but Jerrod knows all about it!!) for only $2.99, it came with the fold up book and paper accessories, I added a few eyelets and some ribbon. It was way fast and easy!! The tab to pull on the side pulls out a note to him from Jerrod and I!

Our Greek dancers were here and were wonderful boys, as a going away gift I made them a mini scrapbook about their trip to Rexburg. They are similar to the accordion "family" book I made but these come in their own little gift box so I decorated that also!!

Christmas plaques

So these are from back in Dec (obviously) but I haven't been down in my craft room crafting for a while so I'm just going through seeing what pics I have of stuff I can share!! Jerrod and I made these little plaques for all the people in his office for Christmas last year. I used vinyl on the cricut for the word "believe" and the star, and the doodle is just a stamp. Our favorite Christmas stuff is anything that has to do with the Nativity, celebrating the birth of Christ!!!

Who doesn't love the Cricut!!! I wish I could play with it and create all the time. These are some cards I made a couple of months ago using the Mini Monograms set! I still haven't used my birthday gift from Amie, the Design studio, I just haven't had time to devote to sitting in front of the computer for 20 hours cause I know that's what's going to happen once I finally get a chance to use it!!! Thank you tons for such a wonderful gift!!
